The United States, whose drone had been shot down last month over Tripoli, is demanding that the debris be returned to them. According to them, the machine was shot down by a Russian air defense system. This is not the first time Washington has mentioned Moscow's influence in the Libyan conflict.

" Those who shot down the drone did not know he was American, but still refuse to return the debris, " said the chief of the US military command for Africa. According to him, there is no doubt that the device that disappeared two weeks ago was shot down by Russian private militia or Marshal Haftar's forces.

A new case that illustrates the growing tensions between the United States and Russia in the Libyan conflict. On several occasions, Washington has accused Moscow of backing Marshal Haftar's forces , who launched an offensive for the resumption of Tripoli last April.

The Americans denounce the presence of Russian private mercenaries and assure that regular troops would also be present. Charges denied each time by Moscow. US military officials say they are worried about multiple violations of the arms embargo and the repercussions of Russian interference.

Tensions and a war of influence that according to the UN special envoy could endanger any resolution of the conflict. The UN is already trying to limit the interventions of other countries like Turkey or the Emirates.
