500 million barrels of oil discovered in southern Mexico

“We can confirm to you, Mr. President, the existence of a giant field of 500 million barrels of oil equivalent in 3P category,” Pemex CEO Octavio Romero Oropesa told Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.

Pemex calls the discovery of the field the most important of all that have been made in the south of the country since 1987.

In November 2017, it was reported that the largest oil field in Mexico in the last 15 years was discovered, the volume of which is approximately estimated at 1.5 billion barrels.
