Prime Minister Abe will adjust by visiting Saudi Arabia and UAE next month at 5:03 on December 6

As the situation in the Middle East continues, Prime Minister Abe is making adjustments to visit Saudi Arabia and UAE = United Arab Emirates next month, and dispatches the Self-Defense Forces to the Middle East region to ensure ship safety. I want to explain what I am considering and get an understanding.

The government is considering dispatching Maritime Self-Defense Forces escort vessels and patrol aircraft to the Middle East region to strengthen the information gathering system for ensuring the safety of ships related to Japan.

Under such circumstances, Prime Minister Abe is coordinating to visit Saudi Arabia and UAE = United Arab Emirates next month.

As Prime Minister Abe explained to the leaders of each country that he was not participating in the voluntary coalition led by the United States and was considering dispatching the Self-Defense Forces as his own initiative and deeply related to both the United States and Iran. I would like to make use of Japan's position to explain the policy of continuing diplomatic efforts to alleviate tensions and to gain understanding.

Concerning dispatch of the Self-Defense Forces to the Middle East region, Prime Minister Abe told this week when he met with Iran's foreign minister, and if the visit of President Rouhani, who was coordinated by the end of the year, was realized, he would dispatch again. As well as seeking understanding, we will exchange opinions to alleviate tension and stabilize the situation.
