According to him, Ukraine is introducing a “European methodology for calculating the tariff”, according to which the tariff for gas transit should correspond to the “actual costs” of the GTS operator.

“The calculations of the transit tariff that were shown to Gazprom and which the Russian side is commenting on now only cover the adjusted expenses of the Ukrainian GTS operator, and therefore this tariff cannot be considered too high,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

He also added that the Russian side was asked to contact the operator of the GTS or the National Commission of Ukraine for state regulation in energy and utilities with the rationale for the need to reduce the tariff.

“The Ukrainian side has demonstrated its constructive approach to the continuation of gas transit, which ensures that this transit will be economically beneficial for all parties: Ukrainian, European and Russian,” Naftogaz emphasized.

Earlier, the head of Gazprom Alexey Miller called the tariffs offered by Ukraine in the framework of negotiations on gas transit excessively high.

Director of the Center for Geopolitical Research at the Institute for Innovative Development Dmitry Rodionov in an interview with the FAN assessed the situation with the extension of the gas contract between Russia and Ukraine.
