In the United States this year, it is better not to offer Peloton exercise bike at Christmas. The bad buzz of an advertisement deemed sexist and ridiculous managed to bring down the stock market shares of the brand.

America, a country of consumerism, has found THE gift that must not be offered at Christmas: a high-tech exercise bike, from the very trendy Peloton brand. It all started with a commercial, says the New York Times. A pub criticized for "his sexism" and to appear out of a totalitarian future. We see a husband offering one of these luxury exercise bikes to his wife. She then films herself throughout the year, using it, before sunrise, on her way home from work ... but with a worried and constrained look on her face every time, very weird.

Since then, social networks are raging to mock and parody the clip, some even comparing it at the beginning of an episode of the series Black Mirror . "This ad is the best horror movie in a long time," says the Vox website. "With her, the Peloton bike looks more like a nightmare than a Christmas present."

After the release of the advertisement, the action Peloton even dropped by 10% on the stock market, notes the agency Bloomberg. It has become such a phenomenon that late-night comedians have seized on it. Trevor Noah, for example, commented on Trump's unhelpful exchanges with Macron in London: "It's sad to see Trump offering Macron Daesh fighters, but at least we found THE Christmas gift worse than the pack !"
