US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has asked the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee to draft indictments against President Donald Trump, stressing that "abuse of power for political benefits" has left no other choice but to act against him.

"Unfortunately, with the confidence, humility and loyalty of the country's founders, with a heart full of love for America, I ask today the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Jerry Nadler, to move forward with the indictment" to isolate the president, Pelosi said in a brief television statement.

"He abused power, undermined national security and jeopardized the integrity of our relations, leaving us no choice but to act," she said.

"Democrats should be ashamed of themselves," White House chief spokesman Stephanie Gresham said in a tweet on Twitter, adding that when the Democrat-controlled House launches impeachment measures against the president, he looks forward to a "fair trial." In the Republican-controlled Senate.

Earlier on Thursday, Trump urged Democrats to act quickly if they planned to hold him accountable so the Senate could handle the issue.

"If you are going to decide my accountability, do it now quickly so that we have a fair trial in the Senate, so that our country can return to work," he tweeted.

It is noteworthy that the House Intelligence Committee had delivered on Wednesday a report confirming that the US President abused his presidential powers by pressing Ukraine.

The president of the House Judiciary Committee said that Trump's conduct required accountability.

At yesterday's hearing, three constitutional experts backed Democrats' efforts to isolate Trump, arguing that his push for a third party to intervene in the US election was a valid basis for his removal, but a fourth expert strongly opposed this, saying the evidence was "absolutely insufficient" to accuse Trump of committing Major offenses or misdemeanors requiring removal.
