The situation is strained in Karlskrona schools, reports BLT.

Both in Karlskrona and in several parts of the country there is a shortage of teachers, which makes for a difficult situation. Although the latest PISA survey shows some improvement in knowledge outcomes, the Swedish school is not up to previous levels, Åsa Fahlén noted.

- We have done our own study through a survey that followed Swedish school students from year 1 in primary school until it is time to leave high school. One third does not take their high school diploma, that is, does not meet the basic qualifications with approved grades to be able to apply further, she says.

She says that the size of a class is important for teaching. But also that it is about the teacher's ability to prepare and structure lessons.

- It affects the overall climate of a school, security and calm for both staff and students, says Åsa Fahlén.
