Kholoud Abdullah Al Ali, Director of the Home Care Department in Sharjah Department of Social Services, told Emirates Today that the Department has established a team of “goodness and blessing” for volunteer work of senior citizens, aged between 55 and 90 years, to activate and strengthen their community role. The number exceeded 192 volunteers from different cities and regions of the Emirate, and 90% of them are women.

She added: «The idea of ​​the team came in 2016, when the Department organized one of its own events, the beginning was the joining of 12 volunteers and volunteers to participate in the Department team in organizing one of the activities of senior citizens in Sharjah, and then the team began to increase, until it reached 192 volunteers, indicating that This year, the team participated in organizing and coordinating 216 events across the Emirate. ”

Al Ali pointed out that the aim of the establishment and founding of the team, to integrate senior citizens in the community, and to invest their leisure time, and to benefit from their experience and transfer to the younger generation, and to enlighten the community to the needs of senior citizens, in addition to enhance their self-confidence and active members of the community. She stressed that the Department has launched a team «good and blessing» volunteer, to integrate the category of senior citizens in all social groups, by involving them in many initiatives that contribute to harness their energies and enhance their skills to serve the Emirate, especially as the Emirate of Sharjah is working on the implementation of initiatives aimed at the integration of senior citizens and their participation for the rest Community groups, in various faces and activities of life that are in line with Sharjah initiatives.
