The Parisian club unveiled Wednesday, December 4 a three-year partnership with Kigali without specifying the amount. In May 2018, Rwanda had already signed an agreement of this type with Arsenal, estimated at nearly 40 million dollars. This time again, the purpose of the operation is to promote tourism and Rwandan products.

Starting next season, the Parc des Princes will be in the colors of the " Visit Rwanda " logo, the slogan aimed at attracting more tourists to the country. A logo that will also be found on the training jerseys of the players, and on the official jerseys of the PSG women's team. Supporters will also be able to taste Rwandan tea and coffee at the Parisian stadium.

The Rwanda Development Board, the government agency behind this partnership, is counting on the notoriety of PSG players, who will be invited to Rwanda, to promote the country's tourist sites.

Last year, the announcement of a first contract of this type with Arsenal had raised many criticisms. Parliamentarians from donor countries of development aid in Rwanda questioned the merit of such an investment in a country where according to Unicef, 39% of the population lives below the poverty line.

For Belise Kariza, of Rwanda Development Board, it is misunderstanding the impact of these campaigns on the country's economy, and especially on the tourism sector. It ensures that last year, Rwanda welcomed 1.7 million visitors, 8% more than the previous year.
