Earlier, French Defense Minister Florence Parley called Macron’s statement on NATO’s "brain death" a desire to encourage the alliance to debate.

In early November, Macron stated at NATO "brain death." In his opinion, Europe should begin to think of itself as an independent geopolitical force.

As the president explained, his statement was a useful signal for the alliance.
