Do you remember the Alfrida storm in January this year? SVT News Blekinge then visited a flood-affected homeowner on Arnö, and recently returned for another visit.

- It's worrying. If the sea rises as much as it is talked about, it will not be possible to live here, says Bengt Ottosson.

Worse and more often

The fear is that with climate change, floods will get worse and come more often. One of the forecasts that Karlskrona assumes is that the sea level can rise by 80 centimeters by the year 2100. This, in combination with high tide due to storms, means that the municipality in the worst case fear temporary increases in sea level by up to three meters in the future.

- Much will be submerged. It's about houses and roads, says Kenneth Johansson, who is the project manager for Karlskrona's climate adaptation plan.

The municipality is currently preparing its climate adaptation plan. It will later be up on the politicians' table in the municipal council for decisions.

- You might have to build embankments and pump out the water that is raining inside. There are technical solutions, says Kenneth Johansson.
