- We have accepted that it is ok with hunting. It is good that the zero is cracked, says Benny Nilsson, hunting consultant at the Swedish Jägareförbundet in Östergötland.

In a press release, the Hunters' Association wants to see a sharp increase in lynx hunting in the country during 2020, they believe that the lynx's impact on hunting and tambourines is too high. But when it comes to the number of lynx that can be dropped, Benny Nilsson is more cautious.

- So we have not had any comments on numbers, we have not discussed the appropriate level, he says.

"Not enough to justify license hunting"

The Predators Association and the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation are critical of the hunt and they feel that there is no basis for granting license hunting for lynx.

- The damage done is very small and is not enough to justify license hunting, says Björn Ljunggren, at the Predators Association in Östergötland.

But Benny Nilsson at the Swedish Hunters' Association thinks it is strange to come up with that criticism afterwards.

"Wildlife management delegations are a forum where different interests sit, I think it is tricky that the Predators Association comes with this criticism afterwards," says Benny Nilsson.
