A fierce war of words is taking place between countries such as France, the United States and Turkey, and overshadows that NATO is now a seventy-year alliance.

The French president has, among other things, gone hard against the US and the country's decision to withdraw its military forces from the Kurdish-controlled areas in northeastern Syria.

Turkey, in turn, has received condemnation of the invasion of Syria, but requires understanding.

However, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg does not see the alliance as threatened.

- NATO is a strong and an absolutely living institution. We have done the biggest renewal and conversion in several years, ”says Jens Stoltenberg to SVT News.
