Before students read a text, they must study the title and pictures and look up difficult words. Then they read the text together and summarize what it is about. A lot of texts are linked to the SO and NO topics so that students can more easily absorb more difficult texts.

Will work long term

- We saw that the students had difficulty acquiring texts in these subjects. It has major consequences for how to understand how society works when you do not have the words you need. We want to prepare them so that they can cope when they come from here, says special educator Lena Hagelberg.

But has the working method produced results?

- Possibly a little. We have seen that students have more understood that they need to find out what words mean when they read a text and some have come up with better reading comprehension strategies. But we have to work long-term to see a change.
