Al-Roken explained to Emirates Today that mixing honey with any chemical stimulants poses a serious risk to children primarily because they receive stimulants and hormones that affect their growth and concentration, as well as exposing them to hyperactivity and other symptoms that negatively affect their health and normal growth.

He added that this type of honey is also a great risk for pregnant women, where these stimulants go directly to the fetuses in their stomachs, as well as reach infants through breast milk.

Al-Roken said that the most serious health problems that may result from eating honey mixed with chemicals is the possibility of some people suffering from heart and brain strokes, especially those suffering from stress disease, in addition to failure and kidney failure due to the weight of these substances on the kidneys.

He called on the concerned authorities to control these products, the need to take the necessary inspection and control measures towards the outlets that sell this type of honey, to protect consumers from its risks, especially as sellers do not declare that they are mixed.

The Council of Ministers Resolution No. 49 of 2016 on the UAE Control System for Honey is granted to the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology, and other competent authorities, to take the necessary measures to monitor the honey product in the markets, to ensure compliance with the standards, through inspection and sampling of honey in the local market , Conducting tests, and ensuring that all outlets in the country are obliged to prohibit the display or sale of any product that does not have a conformity certificate, in addition to inspecting honey consignments at all entry points to the country.
