The Israeli army minister, Naftali Bennett, has ordered the construction of a settlement neighborhood in the old vegetable market in the city of Hebron.

In detail, Israeli websites quoted the Israeli army minister as instructing the so-called "government coordinator in the Palestinian territories" to notify the Hebron municipality of planning a new settlement neighborhood in the old vegetable market complex.

According to Yedioth Ahronoth, under the plan, housing will be established for settlers, while the ground floor will include Palestinian-owned shops.

The decision was taken at the end of a series of discussions held by the Minister of the occupation army with the so-called Civil Administration of the occupation, and the Shin Bet, and other security services.

The mayor of Hebron, Tayseer Abu Sneineh, considered that the decision infringes on the powers and property of the municipality.

He told the Palestinian «Maan» in Hebron: «We reject this decision and can not accept it, and we will go to the judiciary after consulting the legal adviser to the municipality, and we will conduct our internal and external contacts to thwart this scheme».

"Even the unjust Hebron protocol signed by the occupation government gave authority in this authentic part of the city. They are working to undermine the work of the municipality and continue to implement their settlement plan by controlling the heart of the Arab-Islamic city," Abu Sneineh said.

According to the occupation statement, the new settlement will be built over the shops in the old vegetable market, next to the outpost «Abraham Avenue».

Outgoing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that he has proposed to the government the allocation of 40 million shekels ($ 11.5 million) to beef up security in Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

He said at the start of his weekly cabinet meeting yesterday that while the Shin Bet and the army succeed in thwarting attacks by Palestinians, "the settlements need to strengthen security," adding: "We will fight attacks, and will not uproot us from this land."

He reiterated that Israel considers Hamas to be responsible for any "offensive action emanating from the Gaza Strip." He said: "We have worked against the Islamic Jihad movement, and of course we have the right to work against all organizations. "My attack is launched from the Gaza Strip."

On the other hand, the Israeli army announced that its forces opened fire on three Palestinians who were throwing incendiary bombs at an Israeli car in the West Bank.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced earlier that the Palestinian boy, Badawi Masalmeh, was shot dead on Monday evening by the Israeli army in the town of Yabet Awa, south of Hebron in the occupied West Bank.

The ministry said in a press statement that the Palestinian civil liaison informed her, citing his Israeli counterpart, of the martyrdom of a Palestinian after the army opened fire on him near Beit Awwa, south of Hebron.

Palestinian rescue authorities said the Israeli army prevented them from reaching the scene.

In occupied Jerusalem, dozens of settlers, yesterday, stormed the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque, from the door of the Moroccans, under the strict guard of the occupation police.

Israeli gunboats opened heavy machine gun fire at the Gaza Strip's land and sea borders.

Meanwhile, the head of Hamas' political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, is scheduled to leave the Gaza Strip in Cairo in a matter of days or hours, during which he will hold talks with senior Egyptian intelligence officials.
