The shootings occurred on the popular Canal Street tourist street in central New Orleans during the night until Sunday, NBC News reports citing police. Eleven people have been shot, two of whom are seriously injured, police say on local news site nola.com

New Orleans police say on their Twitter account that a person has been interviewed. But the police stress that it is unclear how, or even if the person is involved. No one is arrested for the shooting.

The shootings occurred in the popular French Quarter where many people move, especially this weekend when an annual American football game was held in the city during Thanksgiving weekend.
