02 December 2019The majority summit at Palazzo Chigi was concluded after more than three hours.

"In view of the next meeting of the Eurogroup of 4 December 2019, the Government will address the negotiations on the Economic and Monetary Union (completion of the reform of the Mes, a budget instrument for competitiveness and convergence and definition of the road map on banking union ) following a "package" logic.

"Every decision - the same sources add - will in any case become definitive only after the Parliament has pronounced itself starting from the resolutions that will be approved on December 11th, on the occasion of the communications that the President of the Council will make in view of the next European Council "All this - concludes - in line with points 12) and 13) of Parliament's resolution approved on 12 June 2019".

This was underlined by sources of the Presidency of the Council after the summit on the Mes at Palazzo Chigi.

With the premier Giuseppe Conte, the ministers Roberto Gualtieri (Economics), Stefano Patuanelli (Mise) and the heads of delegation Luigi Di Maio (M5S), Dario Franceschini (Pd) and Roberto Speranza (LeU) were present. Absent Italy Viva.

"The president of Italy Viva Rosato explained to the president Conte, given that the new quarrel of the majority is on the Mes and we are the peacemakers, that we have nothing to argue over, if they saw each other", Matteo Renzi, interviewed, explained a 'It's not the Arena' on La7.

Shortly before the premier wrote in a post on Facebook: "Tomorrow at 1 pm I will be in the Chamber of Deputies for a report on the MES. You can follow my speech here on my Facebook page".

Alitalia
Meanwhile, a hypothesis appears for Alitalia. The government, according to government sources, is considering the possibility of launching an ad hoc decree for Alitalia in the Council of Ministers on Monday or at the latest Thursday, to allow the commissioners to use the 400 million bridging loan (allocated with the fiscal decree) even if the consortium has not yet been finalized for the sale of the former flag company. The loan, according to the same sources, should not however be increased but should remain at 400 million.

The Mes process will continue to mark the path of the majority after the meeting on Sunday evening and the double confrontation of the premier with today's parliamentary classrooms. On Wednesday the Mes will face two insidious events: at 2 pm the hearing of the Governor of the Bank of Italy, Ignazio Visco, on the functioning of the European Stability Mechanism and its prospects for reform and half an hour later, in the Senate Finance Committee for the Draft reform of the Treaty establishing the European Stability Mechanism (MES).
