In Mali, Aliou Mahamane Touré, a jihadist leader in the north of the country, sentenced to ten years in prison for "undermining state security," and released in connection with a prisoner exchange, according to his lawyer, was arrested again on 29 November by the French force Barkhane, in the north of the country.

A patrol of Operation Barkhane in northern Mali on 31 November arrested Aliou Mahamane Toure, Islamic Commissioner of Gao City between 2012 and 2013. The local security forces were immediately warned. The man, weakened by the disease, opposed no resistance.

The story of Aliou Mahamane Toure begins in 2012 when many armed groups, including jihadists, take control of northern Mali. To gain the sympathy of the local population, they work with natives. Aliou Mahamane Toure is named Islamic Commissioner of the city of Gao.

Prisoner exchange

It's the chef. It is recognized by his vehicle, a pickup truck, and especially his whip. After the French military intervention, he becomes a fugitive. Arrested by the Malian army, he is tried and sentenced to ten years in prison for "undermining the security of the state", in particular, in August 2018.

A few months later, he finds himself against his will at liberty. His lawyer, master Maliki Ibrahim, then joined the press to protest. According to him, his client and sixteen other jihadists or suspected jihadists have been released and taken back to the north to allow the release of a Malian official and journalist kidnapped by the jihadists.
