Online sales will reach a new level Monday in the United States on the occasion of "Cyber Monday", the Monday of promotions following the long weekend of Thanksgiving, according to the estimates of the computer company Adobe Analytics.

Internet purchases are expected to reach $ 9.4 billion, according to the company, which measures the transactions of 80 of the 100 largest retailers in the US retail sector.

The biggest volume for online sales was achieved at "Cyber Monday" 2018 with $ 7.9 billion spent.

American merchants have been attracting consumers for decades with barred prices in the days following Thanksgiving, especially during the famous "Black Friday".

For the first time this year, a majority of people surveyed by Price Waterhouse Cooper indicated that they would prefer to shop online than in stores.

Friday, total online purchases amounted to $ 7.4 billion according to Adobe Analytics. More than 40% of these purchases were made using smartphones.

On Saturday, Small Business Saturday sales were $ 3.6 billion, up 18% over last year.

This increase was "fueled by strong gains for both retail chains and small businesses," said Vivek Pandya, an analyst for Adobe.

"The weekend between Black Friday and Cyber Monday is proving to be a very lucrative time for e-commerce," says Pandya.

Among the most popular products are toys from the animated movie "The Snow Queen 2", LOL Surprise dolls, video games like FIFA 20 and Madden 20 and Apple Airpods.

During Thanksgiving on Thursday, US consumers had spent $ 4.2 billion on their online purchases according to the computer company.

For all the holiday season, Adobe Analytics expects a total of 143.8 billion dollars.

According to another study by the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), some 160 million American consumers will go to the store during the Thanksgiving weekend (against 151 million last year), spending on average a little more $ 500.
