Austria's Matthias Mayer won Sunday's Super-G in Lake Louise (Canada), scoring his first win in Alberta, having finished three times second between 2013 and 2015.

Olympic champion downhill in 2014 in Sochi (Russia) and Super-G in 2018 in Pyeongchang (South Korea), Mayer won her sixth World Cup victory, the third in Super-G.

With this success, he takes after four races the head of the overall classification of the World Cup, ahead of the Italian Dominik Paris, second Sunday at four tenths.

An extremely frustrating weekend for the Italian who fails for the second time in two days to reach the top step of the podium. Paris had been beaten Saturday by two hundredths only on the descent by Thomas Dressen.

The German who had triumphed a year to the day after a very heavy fall and a rupture of the cruciate ligaments of the right knee, was ranked 10th in the Super-G.

The podium is completed by the Austrian Vincent Kriechmayr, second last year in Lake Louise, tied with Swiss Mauro Caviezel, 49 hundredths of the winner.

Mayer's victory also puts an end to seven years of Norwegian domination in Lake Louise. Since 2011, now retired Aksel Lund Svindal and his compatriot Kjetil Jansrud have ruled the Super-G in Alberta.

It offers a revenge to Austria, at the foot of the podium in the last five years.

The first French Adrien Theaux, who had three podium finishes in Lake Louise (including a second place in Super-G in 2012) finished an honorable ninth place, 1/2 / 100th of Mayer. Theaux was elbow-to-elbow with the best during the technical part of the course but lost time on the bottom of the track in the fast portion.
