To support Aniche pig farmers sentenced to nearly 60,000 euros for the nuisance of their animals, farmers in the Douai region mobilized on Saturday. They denounce a court decision "unfair" and "aberrant." But also "agri-bashing" which they feel all victims.

REPORTAGE

In Aniche, near Douai, a couple of pig breeders was sentenced to pay a fine of 58,700 euros for the olfactory and sound nuisances of their animals. To support them and denounce agri-bashing, the FDSEA (Federation of Farmers 'Unions), the majority farmers' union, organized a demonstration on Saturday in the city court. Quickly, lines of tractors were formed and posters were released: "Condemned for having fed you", "We do not work to harm you". Europe 1 followed this mobilization.

"The farms that are in place today can all suffer this type of damage," says François Fournier, a member of the FDSEA, a pig's head in his hands to denounce agri-bashing. "What do we want to maintain agriculture in France? We want to keep our family model? What is this completely unfair decision? It is absurd."

"This proves that there is a malaise among farmers"

Nathalie Delval, the condemned farmer, appreciates the mobilization of farmers. "We are super happy that all the farmers are in solidarity with us, it's beautiful," says the farmer. "This proves that there is a malaise among farmers and all are concerned."

The farmers who came to support the condemned farmers then found themselves in the early afternoon in the pig farm of the Delval family. Together, they will look for ways to help financially this operation, which is plagued by this fine.
