November 29, 2019The diplomatic controversy with Beijing explodes, with the Farnesina's harsh reply to the words of the Chinese ambassador who criticized the Italian parliamentarians present at the videoconference with the leader of the protests in Hong Kong, Joshua Wong. "Statements such as those made by the spokesman of the embassy of the People's Republic of China in Rome are completely unacceptable and totally disrespectful of the sovereignty of the Italian Parliament". This, according to sources in the Foreign Ministry, heard by ANSA, formally represented by the Italian Foreign Ministry at the Chinese ambassador in Rome, who was expressed "strong disappointment for what is considered an undue interference in Italian political and parliamentary dialectics".

The statements of the Chinese ambassador
"Joshua Wong distorted reality, legitimized violence and demanded the interference of foreign forces in Hong Kong affairs. The Italian politicians who made the videoconference with him held an irresponsible behavior," the Chinese embassy spokesman said in a tweet from the embassy itself which refers to the press conference organized yesterday at Palazzo Madama by Fdi and Radicali in which the leader of the protests in Hong Kong intervened.
