Family Daphne Caruana: "Premier must resign immediately"
As rumors of the imminent resignation of Joseph Muscat follow one another, in the wake of developments in the investigation into the murder of journalist Daphne Caruana Galicia, the family of the reporter killed in 2017 has returned to ask the prime minister to step back. In a statement press, Daphne's family harshly criticizes the decision to release Muscat's former right-hand man, Keith Schembri, who was arrested in recent days on suspicion of being involved in the murder. "We are appalled by the release of Schembri under the eyes of the prime minister, who continues to play the role of judge, jury and executioner in an investigation involving three of his closest colleagues," reads the statement reported by the media of Malta. "This parody of justice is shameful for our country, it disrupts society and is degrading us," the statement continues, in which the family invites Muscat to "step aside" and give way to a deputy who is not in conflict with investigations. "If the prime minister is interested in justice and if he has Malta in his heart," concludes Daphne's family, "he must do it immediately. Our country is more important than his career."

Billionaire Fenech released again
Yorgen Fenech, the Maltese entrepreneur arrested in recent days as part of the investigation into the murder of journalist Daphne Caruana Galicia in October 2017, was released on bail again. The Malta Independent reported. Last night the Maltese authorities had rejected the businessman's request for pardon after a river meeting of the cabinet. Fenech had been arrested on 20 November on his yacht off Pembrole, after leaving Portomaso. Since then he has been arrested and released four times, every 48 hours, which is the deadline for formalizing the charges. The billionaire and casino patron had promised, in exchange for the pardon, to disclose information about the role in the Caruana murder of former prime minister's right-hand man, Keith Schembri, and ex-ministers Konrad Mizzi and Chris Cardon.
