The delegation of Ukraine tried to disrupt the speech of the State Duma deputy from Crimea Ruslan Balbek at the UN forum on minority issues in Geneva. This was said by the representative of the lower house of the Russian parliament.
“It was an ideological revolt of the Ukrainian side, I think, unexpected for the organizers of the forum. A certain demarche of those who disagree with either the position of the Russian Federation, or with the established and generally accepted rules of behavior, but most likely from the anger that there are no repressions and oppressions of national minorities in the Crimea, and this annoyance has been poured out, ”he told RT.
According to Balbek, delegates from Ukraine shouted, banged their feet and punched the table.
“It seems that the Ukrainian delegation was not present at the official event, but at some pagan orgy,” said Balbek. “And are these people called negotiators?”
A member of the Ukrainian delegation, former Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the so-called Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Boris Babin, admitted that he was among those who foiled Balbek’s speech. According to him, they consider the Russian deputy a "fake delegate." This is probably due to the fact that he represents the Crimea, which Kiev does not recognize reunification with Russia.
“The Ukrainian diplomat, according to the procedure, began to object to Balbek’s speech, emphasizing that this is a fake delegate, he violates the UN General Assembly resolutions and has no right to represent Russia at all. And I, within the framework of generally accepted parliamentary procedures, without violating the rules, started loudly banging on the table, spoiling the collaboration of the collaborator “in the picture” and drowning out his words, ”said Babin“ Ukrinform ”.
Nevertheless, according to him, the chairman of the meeting, one of the UN experts, called on the Ukrainians "not to heat up the situation."
“We need to think how to counteract this. “Diplomats alone are not enough at such events, it is necessary to ensure the presence of experts and civil society representatives to stop numerous provocations, because Russians are very impudent and abuse the rules, bribe and intimidate officials,” says Babin.

"Crimeans always seek to express their position"
Ukrainian delegates have repeatedly behaved in a similar way to representatives of Russia, noted a member of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs, Crimean Senator Sergei Tsekov.
“This behavior was formed in the early 90s. When I was still a member of the World (International) Council of Russian Compatriots, when I met with representatives of Ukraine at international venues, I always knew that they would behave aggressively. Their aggression is not a discussion with arguments, but shouting, interruption, threats of some kind - this is typical for them, ”he told RT.
The senator is convinced that such behavior by Ukrainian delegates should be punished by the organizers.
“Such actions should be most severely suppressed, right up to removal from the audience, not invite them to the next such events. Such behavior must be punished. Their behavior will be another stroke, another reason for disrespect for Ukraine by the states of the international community, ”Tsekov emphasized.
Earlier, in September, Ukraine boycotted a speech by the editor-in-chief of Krymskaya Gazeta Maria Volkonskaya in the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
“When it became clear today that my speech will take place and I began to speak, representatives of delegations from Canada, France and Ukraine left the meeting room. At the same time, the representative of Ukraine did not return to the meeting room. They arranged a boycott, ”she told RIA Novosti in September.
However, despite this opposition from Ukraine, delegates from Crimea convey their position to the international community, said Crimean political analyst Vladislav Ganzhara.
“Sometimes we are faced with the behavior that we saw yesterday in Geneva, indeed the representatives of the Ukrainian delegation behaved extremely ugly. In fact, we perfectly understand that, despite this, the Crimeans always strive to express their position so that representatives of other countries really hear the truth about the processes taking place on the peninsula, ”he said in an interview with RT.
