Last year, the Public Health Authority published a compilation from the National Public Health Survey that showed that students experience anxiety or anxiety to a greater extent than professionals of the same age.

On Thursday, the government made a decision to assign the University Chancellor's Office, UKÄ, to survey student health in 2020. The Authority will present its conclusions on December 31, 2020.

- What we are doing now is to have the students' health mapped out, so that I get a proper basis and can also take measures to strengthen the equality in student health, says Matilda Ernkrans (S), Minister of Higher Education and Research.

"Time to listen"

According to the assignment, UKÄ will identify deficiencies, see how the accessibility of care for the students looks at all universities and colleges. The authority must then propose measures to improve the health of students.

- I meet students every week across the country and during all those meetings, the students say that mental illness is worrying them. The government has been clear that we need to take new steps to fix mental illness. It's time now that we listen to the students, says Matilda Ernkrans.
