Moscow on Thursday called Russia's recommended exclusion from the next Olympics for a doping scandal, saying it was also a "disloyal" or even a "war" aimed at driving out a competitor.

"This is a politicization of this issue to exclude Russia, it is what is called unfair competition. It is a fight without rules, maybe it is even already a war", lashed out at Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.

"For years we have been seeing a lobby that wants to (...) exclude Russia from the global sports arena," added Zakharova, denouncing a conspiracy involving "the global information sector".

The WADA Executive Committee is scheduled to decide in Paris on December 9 whether it is following the recommendations of its committee, which has advocated the exclusion of Russia for four years from the Olympics and any international competition.

According to the Compliance Review Committee (CRC), Russia has removed "hundreds" of suspicious anti-doping test results from its files sent to WADA earlier this year. However, the delivery of these data was a prerequisite for lifting previous sanctions against the Russian anti-doping agency (Rusada), at the heart of an institutional doping system between 2011 and 2015.

On Thursday, the Russian Olympic Committee promised to "do everything" for Russia to be present at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020. The Kremlin had already said Wednesday "ready to cooperate fully" with the World Anti-Doping Agency and the community. international sport.
