The Sami Parliament is in plenary this week in Haparanda, and so is Marita Stinnerbom, a Sami member and chairman of the Sami reindeer husbandry committee.
She gets upset when she sees the video where a truck driver drives a flock of reindeer in front of her and the truck driver at the same time comments “that they never get tired! They will become Norrland's most well-trained reindeer as I keep on pushing them ”.
- First of all, I get incredibly angry. It arouses feelings in one that you can treat the reindeer in this way. I immediately felt that this is a police case, police report in some way. This driver who drives this truck, he commits a crime and this also the company has to get hold of because this is not okay. This violates the Animal Protection Act and the Reindeer Husbandry Act, says Marita Stinnerbom to Sameradion & SVT Sapmi.
According to Sameradion & SVT Sápmi, a police report must have been made about the incident, but we have not had it confirmed by the police.
