The bus contained a total of 58 passengers, of which 52 were young people. In addition to the three who perished, over 20 people were injured so seriously that they needed hospital care. The youngsters on the bus were high school students from Skene who were on their way to Klövsjö to ski.

Following the accident on the E45 in Härjedalen, the State Accident Investigation Board made an investigation. They concluded that there was nothing wrong with the roadway that could have caused the accident. However, according to the Accident Investigation Board, the driver was probably affected by fatigue.

This leads to the bus driver being charged with carelessness in traffic, causing death to another and causing bodily harm. But he was released by Borås district court.

The decision was appealed by the prosecutor and today the verdict falls in the High Court.
