The deprivation of businessman Cyprus citizenship was previously reported by the newspaper Politis. According to Forbes, the publication found out the names of Russians from whom they decided to take away "golden passports". In addition to Deripaska, two more financiers and their relatives appear on the list.

In early November, the Cypriot authorities spoke about plans to deprive citizenship of 26 people, including nine Russians who received “golden passports” for investing in the state’s economy.
