Albanian authorities announced early Wednesday morning that four more people were confirmed dead after last night's search for survivors, reports the news agency AP. More than 600 people were injured by the quake which had a magnitude of 6.4.

In Durres, Albania's second largest city, several residents slept in tents and cars on a football field at the same time as the site was hit by heavy aftershocks.

"Grateful to our friends"

The country's Prime Minister Edi Rama yesterday thanked neighboring Greece and other countries for offering their support.

"We feel good about not being alone and I am very grateful to all our friends," the prime minister said on Tuesday.

The earthquake in Albania was followed by a minor in neighboring southern Bosnia and on Wednesday a quake occurred off the Greek island of Crete.
