The plans have come a long way and already next week an open consultation is planned in the matter, something Norran was the first to report.

Öhlund does not want to go out with how many jobs the factory would imply, but says it is hoped to recruit staff from cities such as Umeå, Piteå and Luleå, as well as inland locations.

- Production has to be compared to traditional process industry and we expect to be able to hire locally and not have to fly in foreign personnel.

Are there people to employ for this?

- We shall see. This is a positive challenge that we face, says Öhlund.

"Can strengthen our position"

Anja Palm, deputy business manager at Skellefteå municipality, says that no clear information has been received on how many jobs the plans can mean, but gives an estimate based on how the dialogue with the company has looked.

- It is about a fairly large workplace and depending on the scale they are going to build, it may be about 150-200 jobs.

What would such an establishment mean?

- It can strengthen our position as a cluster for battery production. Hopefully, we will be able to have the entire food chain in the municipality and for dialogues with most subcontractors we hope to put their business here.
