He also called the actions of the Turkish side disrespectful to the American leader Donald Trump, the United States and NATO, noting that the existing legislation requires Trump to impose sanctions in connection with the situation.

Earlier, expert Konstantin Blokhin appreciated the statement by the US State Department that Turkey should get rid of the Russian S-400, otherwise Ankara runs the risk of facing US sanctions.

According to him, the United States unleashed sanctions wars "not against one country, but on several fronts, not only against its opponents, but also against allies."

On October 10, Van Hollen called for Turkey’s purchase of the S-400 to be a violation of the law.
