Preschool children found buried weapons in sandbox

It was when the children were out in the yard that the discovery was made.

"Staff went out first and then the kids and then they found this weapon-like object in the sandbox," says Vice President Heléne Gustavsson.

She says that the educators brought in the item and put it in a plastic bag.

- Everything went perfectly calm, it was very noisy view.

Staff contacted the principal, who in turn contacted the police. At present, it is unclear what kind of weapon it is all about.

- I have no other answer at this time than it is a soft air gun. But they are very much like a gun, says Rickard Rydsten at the Värnamo police.

According to Rector Heléne Gustavsson, it happens that children find things in the sandboxes, but nothing as remarkable as a weapon.

- It can be fancy stuff for example and it is not good either.

What do you think about what happened now?

- It is obviously very boring. But I feel very confident in the routines we have and I'm glad we have that security. Now we have made sure that the object is in the right hands of the police.
