Confronted with extreme weather conditions and especially changing, due to global warming, the famous South African explorer, who crosses the Arctic Ocean on ski with a colleague, suffers from frostbite and see his food rations melt dangerously.

According to his daughters, Mike Horn is in danger. An emergency plan could be triggered to rescue the South African explorer, who is currently crossing the Arctic Ocean with cross-country skis. Due to a weakened ice, he fell into the water. The adventurer is really in bad shape.

And it is true that the clichés posted on the internet show the explorer, accompanied by his Norwegian colleague Borge Ousland, seriously mopped up. He and his comrade suffer from frostbite due to the extreme cold, down to -45 degrees. The nose of the South African is blackening, just like his toes, which complicates the progression on this sea of ice, become extremely unstable.

Very low food stocks

Mike Horn and his expedition friend have repeatedly fallen in the water. They have crossed the ice, which has become extremely thin because of global warming. Another difficulty is the drifting of the huge icebergs on which the two explorers ski by pulling their sleds. Due to an unfavorable wind, ice blocks tend to return to the North Pole.

The journey is therefore much longer than expected, and stocks of food, they are now very low. They just have enough rations to reach their goal, 500 kilometers away.

For the moment Mike Horn and his comrade refuse to be rescued. They think they can do it alone. But if that fails, Norwegian rescuers stand ready to intervene.
