A 26-year-old woman has been killed in the south of Tenerife and the alleged perpetrator has been arrested

A 26-year-old woman has been murdered in the south of Tenerife, in Granadilla de Abona , and the alleged murderer, a 29-year-old man, has been arrested and brought to justice, in what appears to be a new case of sexist violence, as advanced by TVE and RNE.

She is the number eight fatality for sexist violence in the Canary Islands so far this year and the murder occurs together today, the day on which the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women is celebrated.

In this figure, the cases of a 63-year-old woman murdered in June in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and that of another 53-year-old woman in Tenerife on August 30 are still being counted and are still being investigated.

So far this year, 51 women have been killed by their partners or ex-partners and 43 children have been orphaned .
