The opposition occupies Parliament's doors after a new demonstration in the streets of Tbilisi. Several thousand demonstrators want to prevent Parliament from functioning normally to protest against the government's commitment to amend the electoral law before giving it up.

Above the procession, the red and white colors of the Georgian flag sit side by side with those of the European flag. In the crowd, we demand the departure of the current government and the organization of early elections. At the origin of this new mobilization, the abandonment of electoral reform that the power in place had yet promised to establish.

" This power has built a wall between him and society. He refuses any compromise, he has betrayed his promise to reform the electoral system and today, he exercises absolute control over justice and the Parliament, "denounces a protester.

Block the entrance to Parliament

The protesters are worried that the current government will cling to power at the price, they say, of a restriction of public freedoms in the image of what has happened in Russia in recent years.

" They will try to restrict the law and our rights and in the end we will end up like in Russia where it will be difficult to register as a political party, it will be difficult to participate in the elections, worries a protester. There will be barriers to cross, we do not deserve it! Our culture, our literature, our folklore, our dance, everything says that! Everything says that the Georgian people can not stand the pressure . "

The opposition does not have the support of the people. They are militant groups, the same as those who made the 2003 revolution. They are well organized, but they have no popular support. Since June 20, they have never managed to mobilize more than 7000 people in the street! And they will not have enough people to block Parliament.

At the end of the demonstration, opposition activists unfurl in front of the entrances to Parliament. Their goal is to prevent members from participating in the parliamentary session scheduled to begin this Tuesday. A strategy of tension that could lead to new arrests.
