The forces of retired Libyan Major General Khalifa Hifter announced the imposition of what they described as a no-fly zone over the Libyan capital Tripoli, except for Mitiga airport east of the city.

Major General Ahmed al-Mesmari, spokesman for Hifter's forces, said on Saturday evening that the ban extends from the Maya area west of Tripoli to the Qara Bolli area in the east, and from the city of Tarhuna to the city of Gharyan in the south.

The spokesman added that the passage of all types of aircraft over this area requires permission from Hifter.

A spokesman for Hifter's forces attributed this development to the advance of his forces towards the capital
Libyan, according to the Libyan central portal website. He explained that Mitiga airport was excluded from the ban "because it is needed humanely", calling on the aviation authority
Libyan civil aviation and all airlines and travelers abide by the ban.

In the meantime, the forces of the Libyan National Accord government, on Saturday, it targeted heavy artillery gathering of Hifter forces south of the capital Tripoli. This came according to a statement published on Facebook media office for the operation of the volcano of anger launched by the government of reconciliation, to counter the attack of Hifter forces on Tripoli.

The statement said that al-Wefaq forces accurately targeted the heavy artillery gathering of Hifter militias and dozens of mercenaries supporting it behind Al-Afia Hospital in Qasr Bin Ghashir area.
The statement did not indicate the number of casualties caused by artillery shelling by Hifter forces.

In the context of the ongoing battles in Tripoli, Anatolia correspondent reported that heavy artillery sounds are clearly heard in the capital, amid the continued displacement of civilians living in the project plateau south of Tripoli.

Since April, Hifter's forces have launched a faltering offensive to control Tripoli, the seat of the Wefaq government.
