November 23, 2019The Colombian president, Ivan Duque, announced that next week he will start a national dialogue with all political and social sectors to respond to protests that have been setting fire to the country for days.

"Starting next week I will launch a national dialogue to strengthen the current social policy agenda, working in a unified way with a medium and long-term vision that will allow us to fill social gaps," the head of state said in a speech on TV, ensuring that the dialogue "will take place at regional level" to build a "significant path of reform".

The proposal came after the mayor of Bogota declared a curfew in response to the mass protests that saw hundreds of thousands of Colombians take to the streets to protest against the economic, social and security policies of the center-right government, ally US key, whose popularity is in decline after the elections a year and a half ago.

Meanwhile, Duque from the Twitter profile condemned the attack on the police station in Santander de Quilichao in the south-west, which killed 3 officers and wounded 7: "The order is to identify those responsible. Our voice is in solidarity with this community and the families of these heroes ".
