After a certain delay, the 650 ton heavy cross beam is now in place on a boat next to the bridge bracket on the current Götaälv bridge.

- This is something that we have been planning ever since the tendering phase 2016, and seeing these plans put into practice is fantastic fun, says Peo Halvarsson, Production Manager for Hisingsbron.

Ready 2021

The plan is for the new Hisingsbron to be ready to walk over in May 2021 and for trams and bus will be valid in September 2021 according to Peo Halvarsson.

Several interested parties were on site to view the large cross beam, which required a bridge opening and careful alignment to get through.

- It is interesting to see the technology they use and how they move such tremendously heavy stuff, it is impressive, says William Ressel.

"I am a boatologist"

Tomorrow, the cross beam will be rolled by the ship onto the bottom plates and then pieces will start to be assembled and connected to the cross beam.

- I am one such boatologist who keeps track of all the different boats and it is exciting to come and watch, says William Ressel.
