- When you meet and look each other in the eyes something happens. It will be a real meeting instead of short lines on social media. Many times when scratching the surface there are not so many differences. What is the bottom of me is also often the bottom of someone else too, says Lena Karman, who met Mats Johansson for a call on Saturday.

Matched with dissimilar thinking

There are issues that divide the Swedish people and through the project Sweden meets SVT wants to look more closely at polarization in the country and also allow people who have different opinions to meet. The majority who participate in Sweden meet via the Internet have been able to answer what they think about different questions and then been matched with a person who does not think the same.

The atmosphere during the talks in Malmö was good and several participants thought it was rewarding to debate.

- We got stuck on the immigration issue. It is broad and contains economic and political factors and also the discussion about crime, says Anders Nilsson, who met Per Olsson.

- We do not agree, we have different positions, says Per Olsson.

"Simple answers not appropriate"

Have you changed your mind?

- No, I may not have. However, I have thought through the questions and thought that one can put different perspectives on these questions. For example, what does more feminism mean in Sweden. It can mean many different things. You can answer yes in one sentence, but no in another. Simple answers are not entirely appropriate because the question itself is so complex, says Mats Johansson, who met Lena Karman.
