On Tuesday, North Korea called for Sweden to "behave," the Reuters news agency reported.

Sweden made a request from the US for a new meeting with North Korea in December.

But Sweden's attempt to mediate a dialogue between the US and North Korea is unnecessary, since the countries already know each other's positions. This is what North Korea's nuclear negotiator Kim Myong-Gil said, according to the specialized news service NK News, which referred to North Korea's state-controlled news agency KNCA.

On Thursday, Ambassador Kent Härstedt stated that Sweden is still continuing its dialogue with the US and North Korea - despite criticism from North Korea.

- We continue to talk to both parties, he says in a short comment to SVT News.

Third Summit

Sweden is a protective force for several Western countries in North Korea. Including the United States, as the country lacks diplomatic representation.

And Sweden is mediating between North Korea and the US with the hope that US President Donald Trump and North Korea's leader Kim Jong-Un may have a third summit.

The second summit in Vietnam's capital Hanoi was prematurely canceled as Donald Trump left the talks and went home.

In early October, North Korea and the US delegations met for introductory talks at a courtyard in Lidingö outside Stockholm. North Korea's nuclear negotiator Kim Myong-Gil and US negotiator Stephen Biegun participated. North Korea later announced that it had interrupted the talks and went home.

At the same time, North Korea has turned down an invitation from South Korea. Their president Moon Jae-In had expressed hopes that Kim Jong-Un would come to a summit for leaders in Southeast Asia, South Korea's news agency Yonhap reports on Thursday.

Negotiators become Minister

And now the United States special envoy for North Korea, Stephen Biegun, is likely to be appointed Deputy Foreign Minister. He was questioned by the US Senate on Wednesday, saying that there is still a possibility that the countries can agree on an agreement, the news service NK News said.
