Coach Daniel Leclercq, a technician with a famous face on the French football scene, has died, the RC Lens club announced on Friday that he had won the title of French champion in 1998.

Leclercq, nicknamed the "Druid" as much for his coaching qualities as his physique recognizable by his sparse white hair, died at the age of 70 following a pulmonary embolism, according to the daily La Voix du Nord .
