Supporters of former Bolivian President Evo Morales marched on Thursday 21 November in the streets of La Paz carrying the coffins of protesters killed in clashes with security forces. The procession was dispersed by the police.

Thousands of people, who carried the coffins of five people killed on Tuesday in clashes, have descended from El Alto , the twin city of the administrative capital and considered as acquired from former president Evo Morales, who went into exile in Mexico.

In San Francisco Square, in the center of La Paz, people carrying two coffins, covered with flowers and a wiphala (multicolored banner of the Andean natives), were caught in the middle of the gas cloud and had to put them momentarily on the ground, a few meters from a military riot vehicle.

Security forces used tear gas to disperse the crowd after protesters placed one of the coffins and a picture of Interim President Jeanine Añez on the roof of an armored army vehicle. Some tried to approach the entrance of the presidential palace.

The protesters accused the authorities of firing two days earlier at the protesters surrounding the Senkata refinery , a few kilometers from La Paz. The government declines any responsibility in these deaths for the moment.

The clashes erupted as the army and police cleared the El Alto fuel plant, which protesters had been holding since last week to demand the resignation of interim president Jeanine Añez .

In all, eight people died in these clashes, carrying the overall assessment of the post-election crisis that has shaken the country for a month to 32 dead.
