On Friday, November 22, the Beninese court sentenced opponent Valentin Djenontin, former Minister of Justice and close to Boni Yayi, to a prison with a warrant for stealing and distributing administrative documents. Valentin Djenontin has been living in France for over a year.

The opponent from Benin, former MP, ex-Keeper of the Seals and executive secretary of the FCBE party , wing Boni Yayi, is sentenced to two years imprisonment, 2 million CFA francs fine, and an arrest warrant.

The court opened the file twice, put it under advisement and emptied it on Friday 22 November. Valentin Djenontin was sentenced by default, having never appeared and not having been represented. He is accused of theft and dissemination on social networks of administrative document.

In October 2018, when the police summoned him to conduct the investigation, Valentin Djenontin was traveling abroad. Since then, he has not returned to Benin. He lives in France and speaks regularly Talon governance.

Even before Friday's conviction, the opposition was already classifying him as a political exile. One of his close relatives accused of subtracting the administrative document for him was sentenced and finished serving his sentence, according to a judicial source. Valentin Djenontin can appeal the decision.
