“The military planning of the Alliance is aimed at achieving excellence in all environments with all the ensuing consequences in the form of militarization and escalation of tension. Now NATO has reached space, ”she said, speaking to reporters.
The diplomat called on the countries of the alliance to support Russia's efforts to prevent an arms race in outer space.
“We presume that the transformation of outer space into an arena of armed confrontation would not meet the security interests of any of the countries of the world, including the NATO member states themselves,” the representative of the foreign ministry summed up.
On November 20, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg made a statement recognizing space as the new operational area of NATO.
The military-space concept of the alliance was approved at the end of June.
