The interim president of Bolivia, Jeanine Áñez, announced on Wednesday that she will convene general elections in the country in the next few hours , a demand from several social sectors after the annulled elections on October 20 that were classified by the OAS as irregular.

"If God allows it, today in the morning we will launch the call for elections, as the whole country is demanding," Áñez told reporters, although he has indicated that the legal mechanism will not be defined yet : a congressional law or by presidential supreme decree.

The call for elections is a mandate that Áñez assumed when he occupied the Presidency of the country a week ago, as well as the formation of a new Supreme Electoral Tribunal, after all his authorities were arrested.
