November 20, 2019 "A child cannot sleep without having eaten", declares one of the many children protagonists of Amref's new video, with Simone Cristicchi, proposed on the occasion of the celebrations for the thirtieth anniversary of the "Convention on the Rights of the Child and Adolescent ", Approved November 20, 1989. What makes this event even more relevant, is the awareness that there are no more vulnerable and defenseless human beings than children, and that this truth is confirmed even more dramatic in precarious contexts, such as those in many countries of sub-Saharan Africa. The rights of these children must be protected and honored, since they are the strength and hope of an entire continent.

For this reason, in Amref's new video, starring Simone Cristicchi, the singer-songwriter decides to tell the "Convention on the Rights of the Child and Adolescent" accompanied by the children of the Bandacho Primary School, in Kenya. Going to the site in recent weeks, Cristicchi, also known for his sensitivity and his social commitment, visits some Amref projects dedicated to children. The message that lays the foundation of the video is that "the child has the right to be a child". The journey of the singer supports the Amref initiative marked by the campaign Do not help us for charity, aimed at telling Africa in a new way.

Article 6 of the "Convention on the Rights of the Child and Adolescent", composed of 54 articles, states that "every child has an inherent right to life". However, in many countries in sub-Saharan Africa, child mortality rates are very high. South of the Sahara, children under the age of 5 are 14 times more likely to die than children living in Europe: more than 3 million children. Even more relevant is the effect of malnutrition, which contributes to 45% of all child deaths in Africa. And again, according to UNICEF, in 2018, over 29 million children were born in areas affected by the conflict, such as Afghanistan, Somalia, South Sudan, Syria and Yemen and, for this reason, more than one child in 5 in the world , he spent his very first moments in life in profoundly risky, stressful and harmful environments (UNICEF, 2019).
