The seventh session of the trial against José Enrique Abuín Gey, El Chicle, for the illegal detention, sexual assault and murder of Diana Quer focuses on Wednesday in the Civil Guard investigation that managed to dismantle the defendant, who confessed the place where He had hidden the body 497 days ago and, once the body was located, underpin the evidence that weighed against him.

Months of investigations and reports were presented before the jury court and, in addition to the already known details of a case on which rivers of ink have run, details that are not fundamental to the inquiries came to light, but they do help to portray the accused. It has been known that when he found himself in front of the well, he felt "certain objection" in approaching because he could not get the last image of the victim out of his head.

The captain of the Central Operating Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard José Miguel Hidalgo, who interrogated Abuín Gey after his arrest on December 29, 2017 for the attempted kidnapping and sexual assault of a young woman in Boiro, said he already confessed the crime - at first explained that by outrage - in his first interrogation, but, before leading them to the body, he gave them two false locations. Finally, at five o'clock in the morning of December 31, he took them to the abandoned ship of Asados (Rianxo) and pointed to the well to which he had thrown it.

It was that moment in which the defendant, who, according to forensics, shows no regrets about the facts of those who accuse him, felt those objections. Captain Hidalgo accompanied him through the dimly lit interior of the ship and, at one point, El Gicle did not want to continue. When asked why, he replied: "I don't want to get to the well, my face has been etched."

The words are not literal, but what the UCO captain remembers about them. Diana's murderous confessor told her: "I have the girl's face taxed as if I were seeing her right now." As he told the investigating judge, on Wednesday he said that Abuín Gey told him that he had returned a few days later, about a month ago, he had raised the casket that covers this underground well, saw the face floating and "anchored it."

This spontaneous statement of the accused to this investigator just before they opened this 10-meter deep well and found Diana submerged 50 centimeters from the bottom contradicts what he declared in the trial being held at the Provincial Court of A Coruña, then noted that the body corpse and that same night of August 22, 2016 in which he killed her. However, it serves to strengthen the thesis of the Prosecutor's Office and the private prosecution, which they accuse in a coordinated way and maintain that he returned 20 days later and balked his body with the two 18.4 kilos blocks that surrounded him when he appeared.

At that time The Chewing Gum was about 10 meters away, but it marked the exact place where the well was, which the researchers did not see because of the lack of lighting inside the ship. From there, the dog Elton entered and marked the chest indicating that there were remains and the investigators who were with him gave notice to the Comandancia Coruñesa and the judicial entourage. A quest for Diana Quer had begun 497 days earlier.

They thought to stop him in January

This investigator detailed the entire investigation for two hours and revealed that when the defendant's arrest in the case of Boiro took place, for which he was convicted in April, an investigation was already under way. Already at that time "we have no doubt that he is" based on the evidence of the geolocation of the suspect and victim's phones and the analysis of the movements of his Alfa Romeo vehicle on the night of the disappearance and they planned to stop him mid January 2018.

Before being able to arrest him, they had to finish the report of the telephone activity and deliver it to the court of Ribeira, because the cause for Diana Quer's disappearance was filed since the previous April and they had to request its reopening. That report was abruptly terminated for his arrest and subsequently completed to be able to deliver to the investigating judge.
