“In the city of Aksay, the Rostov region, a Russian citizen was detained on suspicion of treason,” the report said.
As noted, he is a member of the Southern Military District.
“The serviceman, performing the mission of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, purposefully collected secret military information regarding the Armed Forces of Russia,” the department added.
The FSB indicated that the leak of such data abroad "could harm the defense of the state."
A criminal case has been opened on the grounds of a crime under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of Russia (“high treason”).
